Just after the actual summer solstice, I found out that I am the first-prize winner of Solstice Magazine's 2012 Fiction prize, judged by Jennifer Haigh. I am particularly thrilled that Haigh judged my story, as I spent the first part of the summer in the thrall of her novel Faith. Now I get to spend the second half of the summer deciding how to spend my winnings!
You can look for my prize-winning story, "Rheumatic Fever," in the forthcoming summer prize issue of Solstice.
